Field trip to Caldera, III Region

The field trip in Caldera, III Region, the last week, was very interesting. I went with my classmates of “Integrated Management of Coastal Zones”.

In this field trip I learned many things about geomorphology and geology of this landscape. Caldera is a desert area, but with many beautiful places; beachs, paleontology park, wethland of Copiapó river, Nature Sanctuary Granito Orbicular and many others. I was in the Paleontology Park studying the morphology. This is an oldest terrace dated in Chile, can you see many marine fossils and if have you luck can you find sharks tooths of millions years ago! Is reallly astonishing! Is a very magic place...

In Caldera with my group I was in the Paleontology Museum. Here we can find information about the paleontology history in Paleontology Park, for example, the existence of penguins and crocodriles...is incredible! but this region was a tropical region.

To south Caldera's city is located Puerto Viejo. Is a curious settlement, the houses are in all beach!

Other interesting and nice place is the beach... in Caldera, Bahía Inglesa and Puerto Viejo there are beautiful beach! white and bright sands, turquoise water and absolute quiet. I have many fear to sea, but Bahía Inglesa beach have calm waters, can you see the sands and algaes underwater, is the best!

The field trip to Caldera has been the best in this semester :-D
