In some time this river was clean water, but the unsustainable population growth has contributed to change the colour of the water. Today this river is recognized for this charasteristic; presence of different pollutants, strog odors, etc... really unpleasant. This is one of the things that I don´t like to Santiago, I always prefer my town! I Patagua the rivers are with water more clean, in the summer going with my friends to swim.
The "Mapocho Navigable Project" is a very good initiative for to change the river image.
